What comes out
The outline turns around the axis and sweeps a body. A full turn gives a body of revolution, a partial one gives a sector. A coordinate axis or a datum axis serves as the axis.
The outline rule
The outline must not cross the axis: the body would turn itself inside out. Usually the outline is drawn on one side of the axis, and the axis itself is drawn as a construction line — it will not become part of the profile but stays visible as support.
Revolve can cut too
Like extrude, revolve comes in adding and cutting flavours: a groove on a shaft is easier to make by revolving the groove profile as a cut than by building it out of separate bodies.
Several outlines go as one feature, just as with extrude.
